Candied Walnut and Blue Cheese Bites with Apple

Ingredients

  • 1 cup walnut halves
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 6 oz sharp blue cheese
  • 2 crisp apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment.
  2. Melt honey and butter together. Toss with walnuts, cayenne, and sea salt.
  3. Spread on prepared baking sheet and roast for 12-15 minutes, stirring halfway, until fragrant and golden.
  4. Transfer to a plate and cool for 5 minutes. Break into smaller pieces.
  5. Cut apple into thin slices and toss with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  6. Crumble blue cheese into small pieces. Arrange apple slices on a serving platter and top each with a small spoonful of blue cheese and a candied walnut piece.
  7. Serve immediately.
