The Drink You Bring to the Potluck Says Everything

You were told to bring drinks. You are standing in a store. Your choice in this moment communicates more about you than any outfit, car, or Instagram caption ever will. Choose wisely.

A Case of Light Beer

Translation: "I will be here a while and I am bringing enough for everyone." Generous, practical, zero ego. This is the contribution of someone who understands that abundance matters more than sophistication. Respect.

A Bottle of Wine

Translation: "I have graduated from beer but have not yet discovered what I actually like." Wine is the safe choice. It is also the default choice. You will not be remembered for it. But you will not be judged for it either.

A Handle of Bottom-Shelf Liquor

Translation: "I am here for the function, not the flavor." This person peaked socially at 22 and has not updated their contribution since. The handle will be half-consumed by midnight and fully regretted by morning.

A Premium Bottled Cocktail

Translation: "I have taste, I have consideration, and I want everyone to have a good time." Bringing a bottle of Deko Cocktails to a potluck is a flex that does not look like a flex. It says you thought about it. It says you chose quality. It says you are the friend who makes things better by showing up. That is the friend everyone wants at the potluck.

Nothing

Translation: "I forgot" or "I assumed someone else would handle it." This person also forgets birthdays and replies to group texts three days late. We love them anyway. But we notice.

The Rule

Bring something you would be happy to drink yourself. If you would not drink it, do not bring it to someone else's home. The potluck is a shared experience. Contribute something you believe in.
